On this specific exchange to the Hamlet of Arviat – the group of students, ranging in age from twelve to sixteen, will partake in a variety of new experiences from dog-sledding, ice fishing and igloo building, to spending time with the Elders and their twins; who will be teaching them about Inuit culture. The students will also help out in the kitchen and learn to make traditional dishes like bannock and caribou stew. They will be “living vibrant” because in addition to classrooms and textbooks; there is no better way to learn about our beautiful country than participating in this kind of hands on adventure!
